The Brook is a tiny village hidden in the wild forest, half a day’s journey south of Stellar Tower and just an hour’s walk from the mysterious Tower of Flowers. The settlement consists of several dozen wooden houses nestled along both sides of a small stream, so close to the residents that they don’t even bother with a proper name, simply calling it “The Brook.”
The villagers’ livelihood comes primarily from the gifts of the forest. Hunting, gathering mushrooms and berries, and fishing provide the essentials for life, but in recent years, fortune seems to have abandoned the village: the forest has grown scarce in game, the river in fish, and the harvest of berries and mushrooms shrinks with each season. Deprived of their usual abundance, the residents banded together to construct a dam further upstream, hoping to revitalize the river and create a reserve for artificial fish breeding. However, the construction requires significant resources—mysteries, which the village simply cannot afford.
The locals have found an alternative means of survival: they rob the rare travelers and half-mad adventurers drawn by the legends of the Tower of Flowers. These raids yield valuable artifacts and supplies, which are secretly sold in Stellar Tower. With the proceeds, they buy tools and materials for the dam, which, for the people of the Brook, is a symbol of hope for reviving village life and escaping hunger.
