Tari is a half-elf. She never knew her father, and her human mother died during childbirth, showing signs of poisoning. The girl was raised by her grandparents, descendants of a once-noble but impoverished house.
In her late teenage years, Tari fell in love with a charming traveler who turned out to be a silver dragon in disguise. He recognized her draconic lineage and revealed the source of her magical power. This revelation sparked Tari’s deep fascination with dragons and a desire to uncover the truth about her heritage.
One day, in a local tavern, a conflict with another patron escalated into a magical outburst that ended with someone’s death. Forced to flee the town to escape justice, Tari set out on the road.
Her journey led her to the city of Phlan, where she found work in a library. The most influential figure in the city—Lord Sage (in truth, the blue dragon Voltarex)—took her under his wing as both an assistant and a student. He also introduced Tari to the Cult of the Dragon, where he was one of the leaders.
Tari became an agent of the Cult, completing tasks for them. To preserve secrecy, Lord Sage provided her with the magical disguise of a halfling woman named Triflis. That was how the people of Phlan knew her. He also gifted her the magical tattoo Phantom Step.
Tari spent countless hours in the library studying magic and history. With the help of Lord Sage, she honed her innate sorcerous abilities.
When dragons attacked Phlan, Lord Sage fled the city, ordering Tari to remain in the library and await further instructions. Because of this, “Triflis” refused the adventurers’ offer to escape with them.
After the cult’s plan failed and the dragons were slain, Tari fled the city before her disguise spell could wear off.
On her way to Waterdeep, she managed to acquire a powerful magical item—the Wand of True Transmutation. However, the wand was flawed: any attempt to use it risked destroying the object, creature, or even the user, instead of transforming it. In Waterdeep, Tari sought help from the Legion of Lathander. They mocked her, confiscated the wand, and threw her out.
Gritting her teeth, Tari turned her steps toward the city of Red Larch.
