Rarity: Legendary
Type: Does not require attunement

Description:
This magical artifact, crafted by the legendary gnome inventor Fregnard Blixen, epitomizes the pinnacle of magical security and ingenuity. Designed to safely store small and tiny items, the Cryptex is the ultimate tool for protecting valuable or secretive objects.

Storage Dimensions:
The Cryptex can hold objects up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length and 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter.

Lock Mechanism:
To seal the Cryptex, the owner sets a combination of five or six symbols (letters, numbers, or other characters). This combination is required to open it and can only be reset by the owner upon resealing.

Features:

  • Immunity to Damage: The Cryptex is immune to all physical and magical damage.
  • Anti-Magic Concealment: Magical detection methods, such as Detect Magic or Identify, cannot reveal the magical nature of the Cryptex or its contents.
  • Content Concealment: No magical or physical means, including spells like Clairvoyance, can sense or identify what is stored inside the Cryptex.

Lockpicking Difficulty:
Attempts to open the Cryptex without the correct combination require a successful Thieves’ Tools check with DC 35.

Automatic Lock:
If the wrong combination is entered or a lockpicking attempt fails, the Cryptex becomes locked for 1d8 hours, during which it cannot be opened—even with the correct combination.

Lore:
It is said that Fregnard designed the Cryptex to secure rare materials and prototypes for his inventions. Its unmatched ability to withstand any threat and keep its contents hidden makes it one of the most coveted, yet nearly inaccessible, artifacts in the world of Terragon.
