Wondrous item, legendary (unique)

Resting in the palm is a truly otherworldly artifact — a crystal of the purest white, smooth and flawless, like a drop of light frozen in eternity. Its shape is that of a perfect teardrop, suspended mid-fall. From the depths of the crystal emanates a cool glow, soft and mesmerizing, like the reflection of the moon on still water — and within that serenity lies ancient power.

At the very heart of the crystal is a priceless substance: about half a liter of Sardior’s true tear — the first and last ruby dragon, embodiment of Psionics, Crimson Wisdom, and Mental Harmony. This is not merely an artifact. It is the footprint of divinity, crystallized in the material world.

While the tear remains sealed within the crystal, it emits only light — beautiful, enchanting, yet harmless. But should the crystal be shattered, the essence of its imprisoned magic bursts forth. The precious liquid, capable of reshaping destinies, becomes available — yet no one knows how long its properties will endure once freed from the crystal’s protection. To break the Tear is to forsake its eternal glow for a moment of power.

Some rulers, archmages, and immortal beings are willing to trade entire kingdoms for it. Merchant lords and adventurers offer unimaginable sums — up to a million gold pieces, and even that is said to undervalue its true worth.

Properties and Uses Once Released:

  • Mindward Protection: When used to empower armor or a shield, the tear grants the wearer advantage on all saving throws against effects targeting the mind (charm, fear, psionic assault). On a critical success, the attacker suffers a backlash of pain (1d6 psychic damage per character level).
  • Elixir of Sardior: The tear can be used to brew a rare psionic elixir. The drinker, for one hour, gains access to telepathy, telekinesis, and may cast Detect Thoughts, Dominate Person, Levitate, and Telekinesis once each without expending spell slots. Additionally, they gain +4 to Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma for the duration.
  • Dragon’s Memory: A specialized mental ritual allows the user to witness the moment Sardior shed this tear. The vision may reveal forgotten cosmic truths, lost spells, or ancient prophecies. However, few minds can endure the dragon’s emotional storm. Make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw — on a failure, the character falls unconscious for 6d6 hours and gains 3 levels of exhaustion.
  • Flame of Insight: The tear can serve as a catalyst for divine revelation from Sardior himself. For one hour following the ritual, the caster may use Legend Lore and Commune, but the answers manifest as visions and symbols that must be interpreted. These may include prophecies or omens of the world’s end.
  • Sphere of Clarity: When misted into the air, the tear creates a zone of absolute mental silence. For 10 minutes in a 30-foot radius, all enchantments, mental effects, and illusions are suppressed. No god, demon, or psionic force can intrude upon thoughts within the zone. Once during its duration, a single word spoken aloud is heard directly in the souls of all creatures inside the sphere.
  • Echo-Soul Gift: By mixing the tear with the blood of a creature, one may awaken the “Echo of Sardior” — a temporary aspect of psionic divinity. The creature gains the ability to cast Time Stop or Mind Blank once within the next 24 hours. Afterward, the awakening fades, and the creature loses access to all magic and psionics for the following day.

The Tear of Sardior is not merely an artifact. It is a spark of divine intent, encased in crystalline stillness. Its power can heal the mind, tear the fabric of time, or annihilate souls. Yet every attempt to wield its strength is a choice — a choice between eternal brilliance… and fatal temptation.
