Varis Starflower was a student at the University, studying in the Department of Applied Magic, but he was expelled 50 years ago for using forbidden magical practices.
Originally from Faerûn, he came from a humble family. Unlike other students from similar backgrounds, however, he never seemed to struggle with accessing mysteries. Varis was deeply passionate about studying magic and was determined to find ways to draw magical power independently of mysteries, which ultimately led to his expulsion.
On his last day at the University, he told his professors that they knew nothing about magic and declared that he would build his own Tower of Flowers.
