Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement)
These delicate spectacles feature smoky lenses set in a bronze frame etched with tiny glyphs of absurdity and oblivion. At first glance, they seem useless — when worn, you cannot see doors, walls, people, or objects that are directly in front of you. And yet, that is exactly what makes them incredibly valuable to those who seek what lies hidden behind the obvious.
Properties:
The glasses have 2 charges. You can expend 1 charge to activate them for 1 minute. While active, you:
- Cannot perceive objects within 15 feet of you if they are “obvious” — large, stationary, or expected (such as an open door, a standing guard, or a chest in the middle of a room).
- Instead, you see illusions, hidden passages, magical auras, and subtle details usually overlooked by ordinary perception.
- Gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to detect the hidden, unusual, or out-of-place.
Charges: 2. All expended charges are restored at dawn.
Curse (optional, at DM’s discretion):
Each time you activate the glasses, roll a d20. On a 1, you lose the ability to recognize familiar faces for 1d10 minutes — all creatures appear unfamiliar to you.
