Deep within the Crafting Quarter, where the air burns white-hot and the ground is soaked with metal, lies Forge Row—the place where weapons, armor, and tools are born, ensuring the strength of Dergorai. It is the hottest, loudest, and most bustling part of the city, where blacksmiths toil day and night, forging the very things that will shape destinies.

Atmosphere and Sounds

The moment you step into Forge Row, a wave of heat washes over you, radiating from dozens of furnaces and forges. The air is thick with the sharp scent of burning coal, molten metal, and machine oil. Every second here is filled with the rhythmic pounding of hammers, the grinding of sharpening stones, and the hissing of hot steel plunged into water.

Through the narrow streets, workers carry metal ingots, customers inspect the quality of goods, and masters discuss the intricacies of alloys. There are no idle onlookers here—if you came without purpose, you will simply be shoved back into the street.

The facades of buildings are adorned with metal engravings, emblems of smithing clans, and runic patterns, testifying to the craftsmanship of their owners. Every forge is not just a workplace but a legacy, passed down from generation to generation.

Structure of Forge Row

Forge Row is divided into several key zones, each specializing in a particular craft:

  • The Great Forges – The largest forges, handling orders for nobility, the army, and merchants. Here, the finest swords, axes, hammers, and armor are crafted, often adorned with magical inlays.
  • The Guild of Runic Smiths – A place where masters combine metal and magic, forging enchanted blades, impenetrable armor, and unique artifacts.
  • The Armory Row – Workshops producing standard weapons for soldiers, mercenaries, and the city guard. Everything here is strict and efficient—no embellishments, only pure functionality.
  • The Heavy Metal Forges – The birthplace of massive gates, siege weapons, war machines, and even golem armor. The strongest blacksmiths work here, capable of lifting hammers as heavy as a man.
  • The Hall of Trials – The central testing ground where customers assess the quality of their orders. Here, swords shatter against shields, armor endures hammer blows, and axes cleave through stone blocks.

Notable Forges and Masters

The “Blazing Anvil” Forge

“A weapon is an extension of your hand. If it is flawed, you will die.”

The oldest and most respected forge in Forge Row, owned by the Ironbeard Clan. Legendary blades and armor have been crafted here, passed down from generation to generation.

  • Owner: Torgrim “Iron Hand” (see Crafting Quarter description)

The “Flame Scar” Runic Forge

“Magic and steel—two hands of the same warrior.”

This forge is home to the finest runic masters, capable of fusing magical symbols into metal, creating enchanted weaponry. Here, one can commission a blade that never dulls, armor that absorbs blows, or a hammer that can break walls.

  • Owner: Hrodgar “Fire Seal”

Hrodgar is an ancient master, his hands scarred by burns, his eyes glowing with magical light. He forges rare artifacts, but his work demands more than just gold—it requires a personal sacrifice.

Notable NPCs

Gridrek “Bonecrusher” – Master of War Hammers

“Armor breaks, bones too. But a hammer—it is eternal.”

Gridrek is a giant among dwarves, a smith who forges the heaviest war hammers and siege weaponry. His forge is one of the few that crafts for golems and mechanical constructs.
