Monastery of Balance
Located on the peak of Skyrhold Mountain, Northern Mountains of the world of Terragon

The Monastery of Balance, an ancient haven of wisdom and strength, stands atop Skyrhold, one of the highest peaks in Terragon’s Northern Mountains. Founded 850 years ago on the site of an abandoned temple, the monastery has become a center of both spirituality and martial training, where its inhabitants pursue harmony in the world through the study of philosophy and combat arts. It can be reached from the settlement of Pale-Bank in a day’s journey or two days from the Lux Astra countryside club, making it both accessible and yet distant from worldly distractions.

Training and Craft

In the monastery, monks honor dragons as symbols of balance. They see dragons as beings capable of both good and evil, and through this duality, maintaining order in the world. The monastery places great emphasis on studying martial arts and self-mastery. Additionally, the monks are renowned across Terragon for their exceptional beer, the recipe of which was obtained from adventurers from another world. This beer has become a symbol of the monks’ patience and craftsmanship, and its taste is celebrated as a masterpiece.

Rites and Traditions

Novices of the Monastery of Balance grow up within its walls from an early age, where the monks take on the role of family and parents. The novices live ascetically, preparing for the most important moment in their lives—the initiation ritual. Upon reaching the age of 14, each novice sets out into the world, where they must earn their name through trials, deeds, and feats. Only after earning a name and returning do they undergo the ritual of hair-cutting, becoming full members of the brotherhood. Until their initiation, they are not allowed to shave or cut their hair, and they are addressed simply as a novice.
