Dusty Haven is a district of contrasts, whose name misleads those hearing of it for the first time. The absence of any actual harbor and the dust that long settled after construction make it a unique place in the world of Terragon. The heart of Dusty Haven is the station—a crucial transportation hub connecting with dwarven cities, supported by a network of mechanical metal wagons. These wagons, running through tunnels carved into the earth, are the district’s lifeblood, with life flowing through their paths.

The history of the district’s name goes back to its inception, when, during the tunneling and track-laying, the area was literally engulfed in clouds of dust. This layer of dust has long since settled, but the name remains, a reminder of the hard times and the toil of those who laid these paths.

Dwarves and workers who maintain the tunnels make up the primary population of Dusty Haven. Their lives are closely tied to the station, and they are considered the backbone of the district. Their modest homes, workshops, and taverns line the narrow streets, where tales of distant travels and dwarven legends can often be heard. Despite their attachment to labor and the tunnels, the residents of the district also welcome those who haven’t been as fortunate in life. Misfits, outcasts, and those unable to rise in society, secure a place in the Workshops, or get an education at the University, find refuge and perhaps new hope in Dusty Haven. This is a place where broken dreams gather but also a place where one can find the strength to start over. The phrase “it could be worse” perfectly captures the district’s philosophy. Despite all the hardships and setbacks, everyone here knows that life in the Slums is far harsher. This understanding gives Dusty Haven’s residents perseverance and unity, helping them look to the future with optimism, despite everything.
